General Conduct
♦ Students are not permitted to teach other students new moves or skills under any circumstances. If the person a student attempts to teach is injured in any complicity, it will not be covered by the studio’s insurance as students are not named as employees of the company (i.e., the only individuals permitted to teach under the studio’s insurance). The offending student will personally be responsible for any repercussions and/or damage to the studio’s property or may be named in a lawsuit by the injured party.
♦ Students must participate in the in-class warm-up prior to using aerial equipment. No student is to touch or change any of the aerial or rigging equipment in the training space unless given consent by an instructor.
♦ It is vital that students remove all jewellery before participating in a class. (This includes either the taping or removal of belly button rings.) Jewellery can become snagged and cause bodily harm and/or damage equipment.
♦ Students must leave the studio space they find it. This includes general tidiness as well as specifics such as cleaning/stacking mats, removing rigged equipment/putting equipment away, returning all stretching equipment to the designated area, taking all personal items prior to leaving the studio.
♦ Late-comers may be admitted at the discretion of management and/or the instructor/workshop leader.
♦ Bullying and other forms of negative behaviour directed towards students or any other client or employee will not be tolerated. We are a circus family and we will treat each other as such. Any student caught bullying, belittling or causing disturbances that affect other students will be asked to leave the studio, regardless of the type of class or fees already paid. This will be carried out at the discretion of the company directors. Cirque’letics reserves the right to terminate a student’s membership if their behaviour causes distress, damage, or danger to persons or property (including students, other clients, employees, or spectators).
First Aid / Injuries / Medical Conditions
♦ Our instructors are emergency first aid trained. They will have ready access to a first aid kit (including ice packs) when teaching.
♦ If a student has been diagnosed with a new medical condition since initial registration or has sustained an injury, it is the responsibility of the student to discuss their continued participation with both their doctor and instructor before returning to class.
♦ By paying for and attending classes, a student gives Cirque’letics and its agents permission to seek medical attention and/or contact an ambulance on their behalf should they deem it necessary.
Spectators
♦ Spectators are welcome and we have a lounge area that is open when sessions are taking place. Individuals not registered in classes must remain in the spectator area. They are not permitted on the floor training space unless specifically requested by staff for assistance with their child.
Photography
♦ Photography is permitted in classes for ages 12 and over, but if students/spectators are taking photographs of someone other than themselves, they must have explicit permission from the subject(s). It is permissible for spectators to take photographs of their children, but not of other people’s children.
♦ Cirque’letics reserves the right to take photographs and video footage of class participants for the purposes of skills development, instructor training and/or class promotion via print, web and social media. If you do not consent to your image or your child’s image being used, please contact us or talk to a staff member in person.
